Just A Phone Call Away

A distraught AA reached out his hand for help and, 2000 miles away, another AA grasped it

Since first coming to Alcoholics Anonymous in 1995, I have witnessed this program in action in a myriad of ways. Having taken meetings into correctional facilities for most of my time in sobriety, some of those same men and women I met behind the bars now take meetings into those same institutions. Newcomers in my home group set up the coffee, chairs, microphone, and literature for my home group meeting five days a week. They serve on committees as our IGR and GSR, and carry on in service to others in ways too numerous to name. But I would like to take a moment to share how the hand of AA reached out for me from 2100 miles away in the middle of the night.
