I grew up with chronic alcoholic parents. My mother and father both drank every day and night and our home was nothing less than a hellhole. I was the oldest of four. As early as age 4, I remember the drinking, dancing, late nights, then the fighting, beatings and abuse. My father started coming into my bedroom. This pattern went on for years. Eventually my mother knew but, dependent on my father and a victim herself, she minimized the situation and pretended to ignore the abuse he inflicted on me.
