When I walked through the doors of Alcoholics Anonymous, I had no idea my life was about to change. I knew that I felt unhappy and that I drank too much and too often and for the wrong reasons. But I was not ready to admit I was an alcoholic.

I heard something that first day, though. Those people—those AAs—made me a promise. They said, “If you come to meetings and just not drink, your life will get better.”
