Common bond

I had just left rehab and was attending my third AA meeting. I was in a church basement (not my usual haunt, being a Jew). It was told at the rehab to raise my hand at all meetings and introduce myself, which I did.

“Hi, I’m Jeff and I’m an alcoholic,” I said, “and I feel strange being Jewish and saying the Lord’s Prayer.”
