Being there

In 1962, at the age of 25, I called on God for help and a phone call opened up the doors to AA and a new life. With a good sponsor and lots of meetings, I have enjoyed continuous sobriety ever since.

I have two adult children living now. My first one died from suicide in 2003. She was born a handsome boy and died a beautiful transsexual woman. She suffered from clinical depression. We stood by her side and supported her in every way, but it wasn’t enough.

Our third child is 54. As a teenager, he was in a car wreck and shattered his spine and injured his brain. He has had many surgeries and has been on disability. He lives with us and we’re glad to have him.
