Employers Team Up

An industrial alcoholism project, unique in the United States, is in its second year in Baltimore, Md., with additional funding and support from the U.S. Department of Labor and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. This is the first national project combating alcoholism in industry to combine a number of employers in a program of research, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Over 100,000 employees in the Baltimore area are involved. The program is administered by the Baltimore Area Council on Alcoholism in conjunction with Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and Hygiene. Employers include state and Federal agencies, as well as those in the private sector.
