"Some day we hope that every alcoholic who journeys will find a Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous at his destination,” our cofounder Bill W. wrote in 1939. Lucky for us, today AA is just about everywhere we go. Whether our sober adventures take us across Canada and all 50 states, or to a beautiful city in Greece or a tiny town in Ireland, we can usually find a warm welcome from an AA member if we look. This month, our special section features stories by members about staying sober while on the road.

In the story “Wherever I Go,” a woman who travels for work shares her plan to keep AA No. 1 in her life. A newcomer gets hit with the obsession while flying over the Grand Canyon in “Close Call at 10,000 Feet.” Luckily, help was at the gate. When a freak car accident ends some members’ much-anticipated camping trip, it’s AA hospitality that saves the day in “Dream Trip—Canceled.” And when a member visiting his family in Ireland becomes desperate for a meeting, he unexpectedly gets a big surprise on the way to find one in the amusing tale “Luck of the Irish.”
