Alcoholics in the Military
SAN DIEGO, CALIF.--Alcoholic military officers endanger not only their own health and welfare but the safety of the people in their command, Dr. Marc A. Schuckit of the U.S. Navy Medical Neuropsychiatric Research Unit, San Diego, told The Journal.
Well-intentioned military personnel who ignore the problem only aggravate its severity, said Dr. Schuckit, also adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry, University of California. He offered three recommendations for more effective management of the problem:
