Curb on 'Disabled' Doctors

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.--At a conference sponsored by the American Medical Association, on what the association called "disabled physicians"--doctors with problems of mental illness, alcoholism, or drug dependence--Dr. Herbert C. Modlin, a psychiatrist from Kansas and chairman of the association's Council on Mental Health, said that 10,000 doctors across the country might be considered "disabled"--and that most of them were still in practice.
