Getting through the day

Sometimes remembering to not drink is about all newcomers can handle

I have had the good fortune to live a sober life since I made a pivotal phone call in 1968 that brought me to AA. I’m writing to respond to a Grapevine article I read whose author complained about our, “Don’t drink,” saying.

I am so grateful that the man I called all those years ago talked mostly about not drinking. I’m well aware that not drinking is not the only goal in AA. But when I was newly trying to get sober, that’s about all that made sense to me.
