Stranger on a plane

There are so many firsts in sobriety when you’re newly sober. I can remember my first sober airplane flight like it was yesterday. Those were the days when there was little security and you could walk directly to your gate once you arrived at the airport.

As soon as I got to the airport that day, I started to get squirrely because it dawned on me that I had never been to an airport without sitting in the cocktail lounge (one of my favorite places to get nice and drunk) until my flight was ready to board. So I called a littermate of mine and explained my feelings.
