The writer of “The Need to Be Right” tried everything he could think of to end a huge resentment against his wife. Finally, he called a sponsor he trusted and got his answer. “I wanted to be right,” he writes. After taking the sponsor’s suggestion, the resentment went away. “It was gone before I told her how very sorry I was.”

Discuss some instances when you needed to be right. What happened? What are some challenging resentments you’ve had in sobriety? What are some of the AA tools you used to help you let go of them? Which Steps helped you? How about prayer or forgiveness? Direct amends? Was your sponsor helpful?
