With an open heart, a member helps her pastor understand our Fellowship a little better

I recently had a personal conflict regarding my affiliation with the church I attend and AA. The pastor of my church, for whom I have great respect and admiration, has made occasional comments that have concerned me.

During sermons he has on occasion given his opinion about support groups such as AA. These opinions were interpreted by me to mean these groups weren’t very useful and were just people leaning on each other with their problems. His comments made me wonder if he really knew what these groups are about. I also wondered if I was the only person in our church who was uncomfortable with the opinions he expressed.
