Physicians' Attitudes

Many of these items are contrary to AA philosophy. Their publication here does not mean that the Grapevine endorses or approves them; they are offered solely for your information.

What is horribly interesting--I mean those words literally--is my own medical profession's attitude toward (alcoholics). Physicians essentially use the skid-row-derelict model for diagnosis, conveniently forgetting that derelicts are no more than 3 to 5% of the total alcoholic population of this nation. It's as if we only diagnosed cancer after it had metastasized through the entire body.
