Military officials on the island of Diego Garcia (British Indian Ocean Territories), one of the U.S. Navy's more isolated assignments, have taken action to ensure that alcoholism does not become a major problem. "We must face the fact that we are isolated and separated from our families," says Commander R. R. Hadfield, executive officer of Naval Communications Station (NCS), Diego Garcia, adding, "We, therefore, are ensuring that all personnel are fully informed of the causes and afflictions of abusive drinking."
