You’ve probably heard the AA lore of women with time sitting in the front of the rooms, working away with their knitting needles week after week. I’m one of those ladies. Well, sort of. I have some grey hair and I’ve been sober in AA for about 15 years, but I’m just 42 years old. Does that make me an old-timer? I guess it could, to some.

When I came to AA in 2000, I was 26. I hadn’t picked up knitting needles since I was 15, which was about the same time I picked up my first drink. I drank for a solid 10 years, trying to drown my sorrows and avoid dealing with my life.
