Is AA accessible to all?

Her journey into service revealed a need for more handrails, ramps, babysitters and Braille

When I moved from Brooklyn, New York, to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2005, I was fully enmeshed in AA and excited to join a new home group and get to know new friends of Bill W. What I quickly discovered was that many groups in my new area were less than welcoming and even a bit standoffish, which was not my experience in Brooklyn. 

As an African-American woman, leaving a very diverse city and moving to a more conservative one was a challenging adjustment, but I was determined to make it because above all else, I understood the importance of making meetings.
