Some people count differently

I am a numbers guy, an engineer with a penchant for accuracy and precision. Luckily, my rigid, dogmatic approach to life has softened because of my experience in AA.

When I was in early sobriety, a fellow at my beginners’ meeting, whom I’ll call Al, would spout off about staying sober listening to the truckers communicating via radio when they passed by. His words were slurred and he seemed wobbly. To me, these were signs that he had been drinking recently. I was upset that he was sharing while drunk and way off the meeting topic.
