Here all along

She couldn’t stop crying and didn’t understand a thing, until a woman in the parking lot said hello

It was August, 2010. I pulled my car into the parking lot. I was scared, confused and panicked. My heart was racing. I saw people talking and laughing. I parked my car in back and waited, trying to decide if I were going in or not, or if this was even the right place.

Why did everyone look happy? Eventually, I mustered up enough courage to get out of the car and walk through the parking lot, but with my head down. Taking the stairs down to the meeting room seemed like an eternity. When I stepped in, I found myself among a loud and bustling crowd. I wanted to leave. Then a man with a big smile called out to me.
