Maryland's Operation Yellow Jacket, which is backed by the United States government, is a one-year pilot program that, if successful, will be offered to other state police forces. Its specific aims are to catch drunk drivers and speeders. Since its start in February, results have been "quite fantastic," according to Sergeant John Himmelmann, leader of the four yellow jacket teams.
