People who take three daily drinks of any alcoholic beverage cross a "threshold" and risk getting high blood pressure, a new medical study concludes. The contention, based on an analysis of the drinking habits and blood-pressure readings of nearly 84,000 California health-clinic patients, represents the most definite link so far between heavy--or even moderate--drinking and hypertension. The study by physicians at the Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center in Oakland is being published by the New England Journal of Medicine.
