New Deal for Pilots

The Air Line Pilots Association [ALPA], based in Denver, began an alcoholism program nearly three years ago on a grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The goal is to prepare a program model that can be used by the entire airline industry. (The union's 30,000 members work for 35 airlines.)
