Work constructed on the concepts of French mathematician Sully Ledermann and refined by Canadian scientists Wolfgang Schmidt and Jan de Lint (social scientists at the Addiction Research Foundation of Ontario) seeks to prove that as alcohol becomes more available and relatively cheaper in terms of disposable income, it becomes more widely used. As a consequence, the number of heavy drinkers increases and this results in more premature death and alcohol-related illness.
