Catholics Meet a Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C.--According to a report released by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, "For the first time, we have at hand sufficient statistical reports from dioceses and religious congregations that allow us to say with some confidence that the rate of Catholic clergy alcoholism is approximately 5%." The figure matches estimates of the percentage of alcoholics in the national population.
