SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.--The California Supreme Court has ruled that hosts can be sued by people who are injured by their drunken guests.

The decision is an extension of a far-reaching 1971 judgment in which the court said that bar operators could be sued for supplying too much alcohol to patrons who later injured others, for example, in car accidents.
