NOME, ALSK.--A church-backed group, working on the premise that alcohol is the root of health problems and crime in this hard-drinking Gold Rush town, has had a proposition put on the ballot to ballot to ban the sale of liquor. Disgruntled opponents say the town has to live up to its wild and woolly past to keep the tourists coming.
