DTs Really Are Different

In a study of alcohol withdrawal, the severity of tremor was assessed using a pneumatic tremograph. The tremor was shown to be not a simple vertical oscillation but a rotary movement of the finger, producing a circular trace. This study, by C. S. Mellor and R. Ganguli of the Department of Psychiatry, Memorial University, St. John's, Newfoundland suggested that the tremor of alcohol withdrawal is not an exaggerated form of normal physiological tremor but is due to a different mechanism. . . .
