Abuse of alcohol by women in Iceland is now beginning to be recognized as a problem, says Reykjavik social worker Thuridur Jonsdottir. In Iceland as elsewhere, drinking has tended to be viewed as a male activity aimed strictly at getting drunk, she said. "We have no drinking culture or etiquette."
