When I first came into AA, it was so my wife wouldn’t take my two daughters and leave. I wasn’t like any of you. I saw all the differences, none of the similarities.
There were a few more years of getting away with it, going to meetings and still drinking. I only got caught by my wife about once a month, when I would promise never to drink again. I could get a few weeks together, sometimes months. But sobriety eluded me. If I were going to work this program, it would be my way or no way.
