EVERYTHING in the world costs something--in both material and spiritual spheres. Just think for a moment . . . What costs nothing? Some say courtesy costs nothing or love costs nothing, but that's not so. Even these virtues call for humility and unselfishness. So, without splitting hairs, it does cost some effort to get anything or to give anything. Even love itself can cost heartaches if it's not understood.
