ON THE RIGHT TRACK

I CAME into AA for the third time six years ago after nine months of heavy drinking. I had tried AA in Washington and Boston but hadn't made it. I had sat for six months in each place listening to others, and I wasn't asked to speak or to do Twelfth Step work. I got a resentment or two or three. But I realize now that it was my own fault.

I came to Providence on a drunk and for three months was in hell. I had the added burden of ptomaine poisoning along with my DT's. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I contacted AA, and then the miracle happened: three weeks after, I was asked to speak (and incidentally I have never stopped). What a load dropped from me! Activity was the answer, for me. . . .
