The habit of sobriety

If we follow the AA program and its way of life, we don't have any trouble with drinking. The two things just don't go together. Lately I have come to realize that some new and welcome habits are becoming part of my life and I hope they are here for keeps.

Habit is a potent factor in our lives. It takes time to form unimportant habits, and it takes time and effort to establish good ones, such as going to church regularly, keeping appointments and getting to work promptly, doing first things first. It also takes time and effort to put the bottle on the central pedestal of our lives, to form the bad habit of booze, to drink too much and too often.
