Carrying the Message

The shivers

I have never written a letter to the Editor yet and I don't intend to make a production of this --I just feel a responsibility to comment on the suggestion from K. F., Port Jervis, New York, in the February, 1965 issue entitled "A Gripe," that, regarding newcomers, committees should be formed in charge of inducting, etc.: "All newcomers, prospects and members who are having trouble should be discussed in detail. Every time a sponsor fails, the whole committee should try to find out why and rectify it." I refuse to think of anything so awful! What about our Twelfth Tradition and anonymity?

Maybe I have a twisted mind, but with shivers I force myself to picture a meeting of a 'committee' to discuss 'in detail' why newcomers and old-timers have failed.
