Carrying the Message

At the five-year mark

I'm scheduled, in a few days, to lead a meeting in my home group to celebrate my fifth anniversary. If I marathoned a twenty-four-hour talk, possibly I could cover the salient benefits that AA has granted to me. Perhaps a few simple and factual words full of hope and gratitude will find more appreciation from my or any other audience. Perhaps it will suffice to say that I staggered into AA suffering too deeply even to enjoy being an empty shell. My alienation from all I had cared for was complete. In these five years. I've found self-respect, have gained a father relationship with my three children that I never had, have come to know love, and have started a new career.
