Getting the Family Sober

It Takes A Longer Time

A PAGE of the A.A. Book bears this statement: "The alcoholic is like a tornado. . .tearing through other people's lives." How true! Instead of collapsed buildings the alcoholic leaves behind a wreckage of hopes, dreams, plans. Of his dubious "joy" the family has no part; but wife, children and parents share fully in the misery. For them, the suffering is greater.

Yes, the suffering of a family in many cases is greater than for the alcoholic. Often the recovery of the family takes longer.
