or WHAT TO DO TILL THE RIOT SQUAD GETS THERE

UP until the age of about 12 years, we always felt that we were a very superior male person in the presence of the opposite sex, to coin a phrase. Then one day we were inveigled into running a foot race along a 40-acre line fence against a girl, also 12. We felt we were taking a mean advantage and even offered her a 30-yard handicap. She merely scoffed at this suggestion and insisted on an even start. She was a pretty minx, counted one-two-three, and off we sailed down the pasture. We'll never forget the finish. The girl was 30 yards ahead, racing like the Burlington Zephyr going through Cassville, her short skirt high in the air and her long white underwear gleaming in the sunlight. (No skimpies in that day).
