A Little Courage Replaced the Big Fear

In my opinion, a spiritual experience is an individual understanding between a man and his Creator. But does that statement answer the question for a man who has never had such an understanding? I think not! So, perhaps, if you will bear with me, I can help by telling of my own.

I was born with a handicap, a physical handicap made worse by an immediate operation. At the age of fifteen, when I became conscious of the opposite sex, I was all the more aware of it. It was a source of constant, unrelenting embarrassment. The country was in the throes of prohibition; the gin mills were easy to find. I soon found out what to do about my embarrassment. . .
