Case History of a Dry Drunk

EVER since I first came into AA, I have heard two things repeated innumerable times until they have become indelibly imprinted in my mind. First, that AA is a selfish program; and second, that "so-and-so" was on a "dry drunk."

At first, neither of these statements made any sense to my rum-dum mind. How could any program which was designed to help alcoholics recover from their illness be "strictly selfish"? And how could anyone possibly get drunk if he abstained from alcohol in any form? The program must be screwy!
