The Words Kept Coming Back

I DON'T REMEMBER JUST WHEN I learned the Lord's Prayer, but it seems as though I have always known it. I expect that it was taught to me through the combined efforts of the neighborhood clerical man, the Sunday School teachers and members of my own family. The learning of the Prayer in my life was something like learning to swim; there was a time when you could and a time when you couldn't. In a seacoast town swimming was a thing you learned just as soon as you could in order to be one of the gang and protect yourself against the bigger and rougher element, who might decide at any moment to toss you into the deep water at the end of the wharf if you couldn't swim.
