What Is Realistic Sobriety?

WHAT IS REALISTIC SOBRIETY? The big book tells us that we are not saints. When we realize that we are living as normal people, let us be careful not to daydream ourselves into a case of "halo-tosis". The comparison of what we used to be like and what we are now may be very pleasing. But, with a tendency toward inflated ego, we may go overboard and imagine ourselves better than we are if we are not careful. This is where humility can come to the rescue. If we just stop and think that there really is no seniority in AA, that our leaders are but trusted servants, we can better accept the fact that we are once again normal people who have taken our rightful place in society. . .not people set apart.
