The Terrible Decision

I USED to wonder why it was that so many alcoholics who had come to AA and lived a happy life for months, even years, found it impossible to return after a relapse. Why, I used to ask myself, was it that a man who had enjoyed sobriety and who obviously had come to accept himself powerless over alcohol, once returned to the bottle, often tried to go it alone?
