Where You Go to Don't Drink

Seeing the program in action, a five-year-old discovers its essential principle

THE other day my blonde haired blue eyed five-year-old daughter, Robin, came bounding into the house and asked, "Mommy, how come you don't sleep on the floor anymore?" (that's progress for you). This incident made me decide to write and give you her version of AA as she gave it before her kindergarten class during "Sharing Time!"

After the meeting a few weeks ago, the secretary gave me the extra doughnuts left over to bring home. Robin's big blue eyes were as big as silver dollars as she eyed the beautiful assortment of pink frosted, chocolate, orange and white coconut doughnuts. I think she almost believed Santa Claus had come during the night. Never had she seen a sight like this! When she asked where they came from, I replied that I had gone to the AA meeting the night before and "Rex, the doughnut man" had given them to me.
