Unusual words on an inevitable reflection: Why do some make AA and others not?

OVER and over again through the years in AA it has come to me like a dawn or a rainbow: the sense of this luck, this favor, this selection of those of us who have "made it." With the sense of luck, the joy of being sober, rides the knowledge that those of us who have made it for five years or ten or twenty or even more, are walking the same cliff-edge path as today's newest member.
