The Wonder of It

I AM A doctor of medicine, an alcoholic, and a member of AA. I was unable to achieve sobriety until I found AA, and only then could I practice medicine with contentment and some small success. Certainly, as a physician I was unable to heal myself, and the various orthodox medical approaches to the problem of alcoholism were destined to fail in my case, or I failed to respond to them to overcome my compulsion and get better.
