A Chain of Sobriety
AT THE LAST meeting I attended, one of my close friends disclosed that some remarks of mine delivered some time ago had clarified for her the role that Alcoholics Anonymous plays in our lives.
The simile she credited me with is that AA is like a Maypole, with all the other facets and activities of one's life streaming out like ribbons from the center to which they are attached.
I was glad the chairperson called on me next, so I could explain that I had indeed used the simile but had carefully attributed it to a woman named L----, who had given that description of AA's role.... Login to read more
