When Anyone Reaches Out

Being accepted was tough for an alcoholic and addict

I CAME INTO AA like most people do--the hard way. I took an overdose and woke up some time later on a detox ward.

Let me back up a few years. How did I get to that point? I started drinking at thirteen and continued pretty steady until I was twenty and it was pointed out to me that I was really drinking a lot. I decided to quit, but it wasn't that easy. I thought I would go crazy. I didn't want to drink, but I couldn't face life without something. So I called a doctor, and he gave me some pills.
