When in Doubt, Look Around You

EVERY AA meeting I attend is additional evidence that there is a God--or some mysterious, magical force--at work. Even those who slip back into old ways and drink again are evidence that without the combination of faith and action, we are in danger of that first drink.

AA is full of paradoxes, and I've found another one. My belief in God seems to come from a combination of doubt and belief. I have to doubt in order to believe. Sometimes, for example, I begin to take over my life intellectually again and have a recurrence of doubt: Is there really a God, or is it simply my imagination? Then, I start looking for evidence to refute the second alternative, and I find it all around me in AA.
