Going All the Way

Humility, responsibility, and patience are the results of active involvement--in and out of AA

AFTER MY initial denial of alcoholism and drug addiction, about six months of going in and out of AA rooms, and numerous slips, I was finally able to see that my life was getting worse and worse, and I was finally willing to give the Fellowship a try.

Once I had made that momentous decision, I knew I had to get in all the way--just as I had with drugs and alcohol. At two new meetings opening up in my area, I was able to set up chairs and make coffee. To my surprise, I was even elected secretary by one of these groups. I continued the activities through my first year of sobriety. Then I was elected chairman of my home group.
