His first AA conference was a surprise--from a "sneaky" and loving wife

MY WIFE IS an Al-Anon; she's sneaky. She gave me my life back last weekend.

Three months ago, a flyer announcing a state AA conference almost 200 miles from out home reached the table of my home group. My wife remarked that the final day of the conference happened to fall on the first anniversary of my sobriety date. I had noticed that, too, but the possibility of our attending was too remote to give a thought to. After all, we owed more money than a lifetime of work would enable us to repay. I was unemployed and struggling with my program. So I dismissed the flyer and the conference from my mind and never gave either another thought.
