From the February 1984 magazine.

You've Come a Long Way, Baby

I COULD HAVE had it all. I was flying high in New York, doing my drinking with important people at the Stork Club, the Four Seasons, and Sardi's. The brass ring was within my grasp, but I could not even reach for it. All I could do was drink. I fell from my high perch to become a crawling-around-on-the-floor, handicapped, alcoholic drug addict.

Today, I am a very grateful alcoholic--grateful to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous for my sobriety, my happiness, and my very life.
